Here it is a rainy Thursday night with hardly any games, but we did just hear from Notre Dame in Florida. The Irish (4-2) lost again, but didn't use Tomlinson to make sure she's OK following some sort of injury. It didn't sound too serious. Anyway, Notre Dame will probably still bump ahead of Pennsbury into the second spot in the ratings Saturday morning. After all, Pennsbury lost to Mt. St. Dominic last week and Notre Dame whipped a Mt. St. Dominic team with the same pitcher in the state final last year. Pennsbury is at North Penn today and it doesn't look like it will be real warm. . Does that mean Falcon fan Lou "Mr. Freeze'' Hartman once again won't make the trip?
Well, the Rancocas Valley tournament is now only a day away and we can't wait. It really is a fun day. If one games get boring, just go to another. Something tells us Steinert - thanks for the earlier - compliment Bob - is going to make some noise this year. We still can't understand why Dom "Steinert's Greatest Three-Sport Athlete'' Cuniglio is not in the Spartan Hall of Fame, but that's another story. If "Big'' Dom was related to Dr. Neil he would have been the first guy in.
There's talk the Conwell-Egan vs. Pennsbury night game might be moved to Bristol. Why? Where are people going to park? And if they are going to play a double-header, why not make it a triple-header with Morrsiville playing New Hope. That will really pack in the fans.
There's been another shakeup in The Trentonians ratings (see tomorrow's paper). The team heading up is Lenape. The team heading down is Allentown after losing to a West Windsor South team that , in turn, got whacked by North Hunterdon, 14-0. Nothing against West Windsor South, but it seems like what that area needs is more ASA travel ball for the young girls and less of the Little League. Does anyone in Hamilton Township even play Little League?
That's about it for now. We'll update you on the RV Tourney this weekend.

rick, i think your opinion of steinert is right on. if they stay undefeated this weekend they move ahead of CEC and PHS and definitly the team to beat. SHS has alot of travel kids that have seen and hit the likes of AB and CEC has a bunch of travel kids that don't hit anyone. besides who has the pitching staff SHS has ? and their young only 2 srs. i'm going try and get to the RV tourny. I also think you have NEHS way to high.
another case of a team winning because of no fence, nesh hs wins on 2 missed played balls they gets by the center fielder and they get a 4-1 win over CBS HS.
Rick,
I understand your big on Steinert, and for good reason. I certainly dont think they are the favorite over ND, CE, or Pennsbury.
Lets not forget a team that has beat Steinert 17-1 with 36K's the last 2 years. I understand your reasoning for not ranking higher, even though they beat ND too.
Sandy Hart turned the game down this year, and the Peddie AD shot down the RV tourney. So he is trying to get the tough games.
The game of the year this season is ND vs. Peddie. Even better than CE - Pennsbury.
Certainly 2 of the 3 best pitchers in your coverage area, Bunner the obvious other.
My top 5 is.
1. CE, long as they have one loss.
2. ND, Returing champs are tough. Tomlinson is dominating.
3. Peddie, Hennessy has NEVER lost a HS game, Boccanfuso is one of the best pure ball players in the state.
4. Pennsbury, they will ride Muth's arm long as they can.
5. Lenape, Doc is great, smoke and mirrors like Wolv, he gave the Washington Twship coach a lesson, bunting 8 batters in a row. Although they can't hit a little, Moir is tough.
See ya at RV for CE - Wash Twsp
Rick, See you've changed your tune regarding travel players. Now you're suggesting high school players join travel clubs after you've been putting travel ball down for the last several years in your column.
By the way, both West Windsor high schol teams DO have travel ball players on their teams. South happens to be extremely, extremely young and I think they got caught offguard by North Hunterdon after a huge win over Allentown the day before. And don't forget that North Hunterdon is the defending Group 4 State Champions (beating your Steinert team in the Championship) and is ranked 2nd in the state by the Ledger.
